Anime Challenge Day 8

Anime Challenge Day 8

For Day 8, we’re looking at the most epi anime scene ever. So, this’ll be extremely biased, and a bit old, but when I saw this challenge, I knew what my choice was immediately. This is probably the easiest choice for actually, because this scene has stayed with me throughout my life since I saw it. What scene is it that made such a strong impression?

Gohan Going Super Saiyan 2

All the epic scenes I’ve seen over the years are amazing (especially recently). I mean, there’s too many to list without being long-winded, and I don’t want to get off track, but even though I’ve enjoyed so many epic scenes, none of them have topped when I first saw Gohan go SS2. That moment solidified my love for him as a character my entire childhood, and despite the character falling off and becoming extremely lame at times, this moment will always be the most epic scene I’ve ever seen in anime.

Why? Because I wanted to be Gohan growing up. Sure, he started off an annoying brat, but under the tutelage of Master Piccolo, he became a Z warrior. Jump to the aforementioned scene, and you see the proof of that. Spurred on by the murder of Android 16, an innocent in Gohan’s eyes, someone who didn’t want to harm anyone, someone who was just doing the right thing, the android was brutally destroyed right in front of him. When he saw that, something in him just snapped, and a rage unlike any other he’d ever felt consumed him.

Then, history was made. He ascended to Super Saiyan 2, something his father Goku (who was the hero of the show so far) still hadn’t been able to do.

Just epic!

Just epic!

In my eyes, this was the passing of the torch from Goku to Gohan, the moment where he would become the main protagonist. While that didn’t exactly pan out, this moment forever goes down as the most powerful, epic anime scene I’ve ever scene.
