Matt Doyle's "LV48"
Yo, how goes it? Donte back here, diving into another world. This go round? None other than Matt Doyle’s bleak, yet entertaining world of New Hopeland. Here’s what I think of LV48.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve followed Cassie into the ever-murky waters that is New Hopeland. I’ve missed her, Bert and the other colorful inhabitants of this world. Doyle does a great job of presenting us with another great mystery, and of course Cassie does her thing as the titular prickly, yet lovable PI in the game. Stakes are higher than ever, the mysteries run deeper and the who knows just what LV48 actually is. What we do know is that Cassie is a target and she and the New Hopeland PD use this to their advantage in trying to get a leg up on the one running around terrorizing the city as of late.
I’ve got to say, I loved this one just as much, if not more than the previous two books. We’ve got the lovable Bert (who remains one of my favorite characters), Lori (who I also like quite a bit and best of all, we get more of Cassie interacting with the PD characters I like. We also see Cassie develop more as a person, and I loved that. Seeing a character go through changes you didn’t think possible before…that puts a smile on my face. The case is a tough one, we see Bert go through some things, and man oh man did I mention the character development from Caz? I was going to go into more detail, but I thought what better what to get you to enjoy this book than just a whole hearted recommendation?
GO READ THIS BOOK!!!! It’s that good.
